HH Brigadier Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa

His Highness (HH) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa serves as the Commander of the Royal Guard unit of Bahrain Defence Force and His Majesty’s Representative for Philanthropy and Youth Affairs. His Highness has been the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports since 24 January 2010 and the President of Bahrain Olympic Committee since 10 June 2009.

His Highness has contributed significantly to the political, social and economic empowerment of the Bahraini youth. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nasser Center for Rehabilitation and Vocational Training (formerly known as Bahrain Academic and Vocational Rehabilitation Center) and member of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB).

Over the past decade, HH Shaikh Nasser has championed the promotion of sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf region through his role as Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and as President of Bahrain Olympic Committee. He is a keen sportsman himself leading the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation, the Royal Endurance Team and Bahrain Endurance Horse Racing Club.

Following his participation in numerous IRONMAN competitions since 2013, HH Shaikh Nasser was responsible for bringing triathlon to the Gulf through the patronage and organisation of a number of races in the Gulf. This has positioned the region as an important hub in the triathletes annual calendar of sporting events.

HH is a firm believer of holistic solutions to the key challenges facing sustainable development and the well-being of future generations in Bahrain and beyond. He uses his role as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Charity Organisation (ROC) and his own foundation, Nasser Bin Hamad Foundation (NBHF), to address issues pertaining to health, employment, environment protection and eradicating poverty in Bahrain. HH’s work also extends to the provision of relief assistance to some of the world’s most fragile states, including: Yemen, Syria, Somalia and Nepal.

HH Brigadier Shaikh Nasser received his military training at Sandhurst Royal Military Academy (RMAS) where he was awarded with King Hossein Distinction Award in August 2006. He also completed the US Marine Corps University’s Joint Command and Staff session in Washington DC with Distinction.
